However, under SB 220, the conditions had been modified such that patients were eligible for participation without being diagnosed with “severe or end-stage” cancer, Parkinson’s disease, HIV, Alzheimer’s disease, or multiple sclerosis. There is currently no provision for the general public in Georgia to petition for any other qualifying condition since only the legislature can amend the list of conditions.
